CUMULATIVE METHOD
During this class, the importance of having a command of vocabulary but above all of grammar was reinforced, since this is our responsibility as teachers, in addition to looking for strategies that allow our students to approach the language. The teacher mentioned that it is not essential for students to learn grammar, but rather that they learn to use the language and defend themselves with it, which is why we must create safe spaces where students can practice it. After this, we divided into groups to continue playing Among Us. This time I felt better since I had learned more vocabulary that I could use for the game. It was a fun time where I felt confident and I was able to practice my oral skills.
Finally, we worked on a listening exercise, this one went particularly well for me and I felt more comfortable than in previous times. At the time we shared how we had done in this exercise, the majority said that they had had good results and it was then that the teacher spoke to us about the cumulative method, which he expressed as always doing more or less the same thing until achieving it. He gave the example of doing exercise, the same routines must be done so that the muscle grows. He also spoke about the learning differences that can be found in the classroom. When we do many of the same things, it allows students to get into the rhythm and reach their goals, while if we constantly change the activity or method for some students it can be easy but for others learning becomes more complex because when they are just getting into the rhythm of the activity, they move on to another and have to start again.
The cumulative method is a pedagogical approach that is based on the idea that learning is a gradual and continuous process, where each new knowledge is built on previously acquired knowledge. This method recognizes that learning is not a series of isolated events, but rather an interconnected sequence where each concept, skill, or experience becomes the birthplace for the next. In practice, educators design the curriculum so that topics are presented in a logical sequence, where each unit or lesson builds on what students already know. In this sense, the teacher recommended that we practice listening a lot, so each class we work on a listening exercise in the same format, since we already know how it works and we are getting into the rhythm of work.
